That is a question that should be asked to all girls. Well for me, I don't wear make up much or all the time when I go out. Maybe it is not very important to me. Make up for me is fun. Seriously it's a pleasure in only wearing makeup when I feel like doing so and when I want to.
And I am not against make up or anything like that. I love the lovely shades, the subtle blending, the sweeps of the dark eye liner and rosebud lips. But I rather not go by that flow everyday so I chose only when I want or when I feel like it is necessary and I am happy the days in between with a natural face.
One day I went to school and everybody was like : ''You have dark circles.'' And they were like : ''ARE YOU SICK?'' I was hesitant for a moment then I found an explanation and said no, I was not sick I just didn't find the need to cover up my flaws with make up and the dark circles were due to lack of sleep because I tend to leave work for the last minute and I don't sleep. So if we girls are told that we look ''ugly'' or ''sick'' when we don't wear make up, what are we supposed to think?
Does that mean if I have some flaws on my face, I should coat myself with make up day and night, even if I don't want to? Does that mean the joys of a bright eyeliner, a sweep of colorful glitter is going to correct faces or fix the flaws and make people presentable to others. Does it have to ruin the fun of make up and make it turn from something glorious, feminist and fun into something purely designed to please and attract the opposite sex to submit it to the societal pressures?
I am sure that part of all of these things contribute to why we girls feel the need or wish to wear make up. But this has to change. We should wear make up because it is fun and enjoyable and this is what you want. This is what makes you feel better about yourself on a sad or dull day or when you wear your favorite outfit. It must be something we chose to wear, not something we need or depend and absolutely not something we have to wear.
Choice people! It is all about choice!
Have you ever felt pressurized to wear make up or clothes that you don't want to? What will you do about it?

ReplyDeleteI just say that my skin is allergic to those stuffs.
Luckily, my parents don't force me to wear make up. Just some friends.
